2.1 General
Where a full designation is required for a welding process, it shall have the following structure: the number of this International Standard (i.e. iSO 4O63), separated by a hyphen from the reference number of the process, as shown in this example.

2.2.1 General
Process variants may be designated by the transfer mode and number of electrodes

For welding processes where different transfer modes are possible, the transfer mode may be indicated by a letter in accordance with Table 1 and as shown in this example.

When more than one welding process is used simultaneously in one process area, the processes may be described using the designations for each process separated by a plus symbol (‘+“).
