9.4 (i Weld
9.4.1 %kdiankal Propertles and Soundness. A test assembly shall be prei*rcd and welded as specified in Table 2 and shown in Figure 2. using base metal of an appropnatc type specified in Table 3. Testing of this assembly shall be as specified in Clause 12. Tension Test, and Clause 13. Bend Test. Additionally, this assembly may he used to satisfy the requirements of die flat position radiographic lest (Note c to Table 2). In that case, the assembly shall be radiographcd as required in Clause II. Radiographic Test. The assembly shall be tested in the is-wldcd condition
9.4.2 Radiugraphk Soundness, A test assembly shall be prepared for electrodes of all classifications and welded as shown in FIgure 3. using base metal at thc appropriate type specified in Table 3. The welding position shall be as specified in Table 2 for the different electrode siics and classifications. Testing of the assembly shall be as specified in Clause II. Radiographic Test. The gnxwc weld in Figure 2 may be radiographcd tfur those classifications for which the radiographic test is welded in the flat position), thus eliminating the need to make the groove weld in Figure 3. in those case’s.
10. Chemical Anah’sis
lot The sample for analysis shall he taken from weld metal obtained from the weld pad. the reduced section of the fractured tension test specimen. or a low -dilution area of the groove weld in Figure 2. The top surface of the pad described in 9.3 and shown in Figure I (when the pad is used), shall be removed and discarded. A sample for analysis shall be obtahied from the underlying metal by an appropriate niechanical means. The ..ample shall be free of slag.
