9.5.1 Applied voltage test
The applied voltage test shall be performed by applying, between each winding successively and the other winding(s) connected to ground, a voltage at 60 Hz from an external source and of the kV value specified in Table 11. The applied voltage shall be held constant for 1 mm. This test shall not be applied to any winding that is permanently grounded.
9.5.2 Induced voltage test
Except in the case of transformers covered by Clauses 9.5.3 and 9.5.4, the induced voltage test shall be made by applying between the terminals of one winding, with the other winding open-circuited, a voltage that is twice the normal voltage of the winding for 7200 cycles at the frequency specified in Table 12.
9.5.3 SIngle-phase transformers with one high-voltage bushing
The induced voltage test shall be made by applying, between the terminals of one winding, a voltage that will develop from high-voltage line terminal-to-ground a voltage of 1000 V plus 3.46 times the rated transformer winding voltage. In no case shall this voltage exceed the values given under applied voltage in Table 11.
9.5.4 Three-phase transformers, permanently grounded
For three-phase transformers having a Y-connected high-voltage winding with the neutral terminal permanently grounded, the induced voltage test shall be made by applying to the line terminals of one winding a voltage that will develop between the high-voltage line terminals a voltage equal to the values given under applied voltage in Table 11.
However, in no case shall this voltage between the high-voltage line terminals be less than twice or more than 1000 V pIus 3.46 times the rated transformer line voltage.
9.5.5 Impulse tests
The standard impulse tests shall consist of the following voltage applied to each winding in the following order: one reduced full wave, two chopped waves, and one full wave, in accordance with Table 11.
9.6 Temperature rise test
9.6.1 Method
The temperature of the windings shall be determined by the rise-of-resistance method, and no correction need be made to the instant of shutdown if no more than 4 mm have elapsed from the instant of shutdown until the final readings.
9.6.2 Ambient temperature
The ambient air temperature shall be neither below 10 °C nor above 40 °C, and it shall be assumed that the temperature rise is the same for all ambient air temperatures between these limits. The altitude shall not exceed 1000 m.CSA C2.1-06 pdf free download.
