A.1 General
This annex describes the most common analysis methods and their application. These methods are generally applicable to calibration, test signals, and response measurements. The suitability of any analysis method or test signal may be limited by how the test signal infiucnccs the behavior of the device under test. Please see Annex I) for information about test signals.
The analysis shall process the time data without gaps. This means there shall be no loss of information and calculations of spectral power will be accurate for both stationary and nonstationary signals. Constant percentage bandwidth (CPI3) analysis as defined in A.2 naturally fulfills this requirement. Unless otherwise stated, measurements are specified as long-term root-mean-square (rms) averages during at least one complete period of the active part of the signal.
Random signals shall be measured with a sufficiently long averaging time to ensure a confidence interval of 0.5 dli with a coverage factor of k = 2 (95% probability). When analyzing periodic signals such as pseudo-random noise or a segment of real or artificial speech or artiticial voices, the averaging time shall be at least one full period of the signal. For stepped sine signals. there is a period of settling after each change in frequency. Averaging time at each frequency shall be at least one full period at’tcr settling. Averaging time shall be stated for all measurements.
CPu analysis is preferred for nonstationary signals and for frequency response measurements of systems without a time stable relationship between the input and output. Other analysis methods may be required, or may be used as alternatives, depending on the application. Whenever a particular analysis method is required. it is specified in the relevant measurement clause. If the results are equivalent to the results obtained using the preferred analysis method, an alternative may be used. In all cases, the analysis method shall he reported.
All rms-lcvcl calculations shall fulfill ANSI S1.4/IEC 61672-1.
For digital analyses. the data are discrete, so the highest frequency that can be measured is determined by the sampling frequency. Therefore, the analysis sampling frequency shall be at least 2.2 times the highest frequency to be measured.IEEE 269-2019 pdf free download.
