2.1 This procedure specifies the test for antibacterial activity of the tollowing products: plastic products, metal products. ceramics products, and products having special shape and having small compatibility with the liquid inoculum, such as latex products. The textile products and the photocatalyst products are not covered in this procedure.

4.2 ANTIBACTERIAL– Term descnbing a state where growth of bactena on the surfaces of products is suppressed or describing the effect of an agent which suppresses the growth of bacteria on the surfaces of products.

4.3 ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY — Difference in the logarithm of the viable cell count found on an antibacterialtreated product and an untreated product after inoculation with and incubation of bacteria.

4.4 ANTIBACTERIAL EFFECTIVENESS — Effectiveness of antibacterial product determined by the value of the antibacterial activity.
5 Procedure
5.1 The manufacturer shall submit the requested documentation necessary for confirming eligibility for verification, and verifying the proposed antibacterial claim. For more information regarding required documentation, see Section 8. Information Required.
5.2 Antibacterial Activity measurement methodologies for different product types are specified in Table.
5.3 As part of an annual review, the manufacturer must complete a Resistance to Bacterial Growth ECV Annual Review Declaration and return it to the designated compliance manager along with any requested documentation to confirm on-going compliance with the bacterial resistance environmental claim.
6 Minimum Allowable Antibacterial Activity
6.1 Products should be tested against one at the specific antibacterial activity measurement methodology according to Table 5.1 and the result should be recorded with one decimal place by rounding down the second decimal place.
